a month ago, my company celebrated its eighth year anniversary - reality tv style! the theme, more inspired by the Amazing Race, also has small touches of Survivor, Deal or No Deal and Shall We Dance.. yup, these are some of the high-rated shows catering our TV sets lately. i am a big fan of reality shows - Amazing Race, Survivor, American Idol, the Apprentice, Shall We Dance, Big Brother, name it, i've watched it. when i learned that our Recreations staff are incorporating some of these games on our upcoming yearly event, i was like... "how would they do it here?"... not that i doubt my office's creativity and artistry, but the mere fact that those tv-series required tedious showmanship, coordination, cooperation and financial stability, i was adamant to know how are we going to pull this off without creating a scene.. or perhaps i was just really a bitch who lacked faith with my own company.. last july, not only were we able to do "races, tasks, price guessings and dance numbers", we also had fun participating in different "mini-games" and "side shows" like Crystal Maze, Trivia Wheel, Flush Room, Henna Tattoo galore and a lot more.. the whole site was subdivided into 5 tribes - the Bontoks, Ifugao, Ibanag, T'Boli and Badjao tribes. every tribe has up to 50 participants and have to join every games to be able to accumulate points and be crowned as Survivor Team. in my case, i was happy to be part of tribe T'Boli.. i won a prize when i joined Trivia Wheel - Jeopardy style.. man, the questions were quite hard, i should say.. lucky for me, i was able to give my best and add my points to my Tribe. while i was eyeing a participation for the Deal or No Deal game as a K-Girl, i declined later on... because i thought i won't look good on TV (local tv station in our center) since i've got an evident bump already.. anyway, by the end of the day (which was really eventful, literally speaking, the winning tribe was announced after a dance performance. i was not really paying attention to the dance numbers onstage because at that time, i was having a butterfy tattoo on my wrist.. i've long wanted to have a henna tattoo by the way, so i didn't let of the chance to have one. at first, i was thinking, maybe it's not a good idea to have a tattoo because i might be allergic to some stuff.. but when i saw my friend Donnel's summer sun tattoo at his nape, i said, "it's so cute, i should have mine too!".. at 6pm, my hand was beautifully crafted witha butterfly.. the next morning however, i got itchy all over my hands.. i couldn't stop rubbing and dapping alcohol on my skin because it's really so itchy and tingling.. i wasn't paying attention to what my sister was saying about having a blister later on because i was really so into scratching my wrist. that afternoon, i cried a river because my hand turned into a zombie hand - reddish like a tomato, as big & round as an eggplant. oh and the blister? it took the form of the butterfly - pretty yet poxy.. as in mukhang bulutong (chicken pox) na malaki!... huhuhuhu.. i would love to post the picture of my hand blistered tattoo, but i'd rather not.. you might not stomach how it looks like, believe me, you would even say Yuck! anyway, forward to 3 weeks later, now my hand is a little cured.. my hand's not so large anymore, no more tingling & itchy feelings, but a scar is forever imprinted on it.. yep a scar... but a beautiful scar.. because this scar took the form of the butterfly tattoo.. when people notice my hand lately, they say, "hey, how did you get that beautiful butterfly on your wrist?" i'd tell them, "oh! this? i had it since i was born.. cute isn't it?"... and the people would either roll their eyes for disbelief or would bulge out their corneas for staring hard at me.. hahaha.. P.S. listening to: Sk8ter Boi by Avril Lavigne + this is my life as of | 3:12 p.m. |
